A joke depends on an unexpected final word, so the context-guessing that carries you through most cryptograms fails right at the end. You usually have to solve the punchline letter by letter rather than inferring it.
What is the fastest way into a humor cryptogram?
Go straight for the apostrophes. Comic writing is full of contractions, and the letter after an apostrophe is almost always T, S, RE, LL or VE - which hands you several high-frequency letters at once.
